Dear friends in Iceland,

We will be visiting from 2-3 and 9-12 August - can't wait! We are renting a car. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to drive from Reykjavik to Olafsvik? Thank you!

Hmm, as the roads to Ólafsvík are pretty decent (I'm presuming they finished the works there since I've been there - last year) ... I'd say in 3-4 hours. (Google estimates 2.5 hours / 191km)
The road I have in mind for this is taking the ring road 1 north and then taking the 54 westwards.

I'd say Grif's estimate is more accurate than Google's. I recently took a tour on Snæfellsnes and it took about 2.5 hours to drive to Stykkishólmur, from where you would turn off towards Ólafsvík.
